About Me
Hi everyone, my name is Gaby. I currently attend Lambert High School and will graduate with the class of 2019. I joined the LHS Honors Mentorship Program as a junior and I intern at the Pleasant Hill Animal Hospital. I hope you enjoy learning about my internship through my blog. Enjoy!
Why Veterinary Medicine?
At my high school, I am involved in the medical pathway and HOSA. Both of these help high schoolers become healthcare workers. I want to be able to help animals and people with their problems and cure their sicknesses. This is why I joined the healthcare pathway. I'm not sure if I want to become a veterinarian, however I can still many things, such as how to treat patients right and address symptoms. Hopefully, through this internship, I can gain more experience and understand the healthcare industry more.
My Mentorship
I am currently interning at the Pleasant Hill Animal Hospital. There are two veterinarians who work there; Dr. Smith and Dr. Stewart. There are also many other workers including nurses, office administration, and animal care workers. I work along with all these amazing people and help them if they ever need anything. Some of the activities I may do include, cleaning, observing, research, and basic medical procedures. I can help give shots, hold down animals, or give the doctor support.
The Future
There are many things I want to do in the future. But for next year, I want to get another internship at a human hospital. I also want to gain more experience doing more medical procedures. This mentorship will help me attain the above mentioned goals by giving me experience in a medical setting. it also gives me something to add onto my resume that allows me to stand out form my peers.
